Tar Hollow State Park Wildlife
Tar Hollow State Park, located in southern Ohio, is home to many small creatures including numerous amphibians and even a few reptiles, including the rare and endangered timber rattlesnake. While I wasn’t lucky enough to spot a rattlesnake, there were a few ring-necked snakes and more salamanders than I could count.
This is fertile salamander habitat with numerous salamanders found on the forest floor and around the streams. Young salamanders, about the length of my thumbnail, can be seen swimming along the edges of the streams as well.
